About the Marquee Relief Fund
The Marquee Relief Fund was created to support and preserve the live music venues across Indiana and their impact on Indiana’s economy, neighborhoods, quality of life, jobs and dependent industries. With over 90% of 2020 revenue lost, these small businesses are facing tough decisions about their futures.
The MRF is the first grant program offered by the IIVA, which was formed in March of 2020 to help Indiana live music venues navigate pandemic restrictions. The Marquee Relief Fund has been made possible through the generous donations of live music fans across Indiana, and the United States. Additionally, the sale of over 1,500 Keep Indy Live t-shirts contributed to this fund.
IIVA’s fundraising programs directly support future grant programs for venues, promoters, festivals and artists.
“We’re humbled and grateful for the support of Indiana’s live music fans. Our programs have been funded directly through generous donations from fans. The announcement of the Marquee Relief Fund provides an exciting first step for our organization to make a real impact.
Josh Baker, Executive Director - Indiana Independent Venue Alliance
A Critical Time
IIVA encourages fans to continue their support, and reach out to others, by spreading the #SaveOurStages message. As Indiana reopens, it gives a false sense of security that things are “getting better.” The likelihood of federal relief decreases every day. Entertainment venues are scrambling to meet financially impractical demands from local health authorities. With winter on the way, coupled with an imminent “second wave” of the Covid-19 virus, venues who pivoted to outdoor performances spaces will soon be forced to close.
What’s Next
In October, IIVA will launch its biggest fundraiser yet, The Battle of the Fans. Watch for updates on how you can get involved, compete against your peers and earn incredible prizes - all while raising money on behalf of your favorite local venues.
The Marquee Relief Fund is the first of two signature funds created to support Indiana’s live music ecosystem. This Winter, the IIVA will launch the Emergency Live Music Relief Fund (ELMR) that will expand financial relief opportunities to live music promoters, music festivals and performing artists. The IIVA intends to offer multiple rounds of funding from both programs as they are funded.
