City of Indianapolis Allocates $76M in CARES Funds; Includes More Relief For Live Music Venues

Last Tuesday, City Council successfully voted to allocated nearly 76 million dollars in remaining federal CARES funds to various industries and programs throughout Indianapolis. The approved proposal includes $150,000 set aside for a second round of live music venue grants through the Indy Music Strategy Relief Fund which is administered by Musical Family Tree. The first round of this grant program awarded $125,000 to local venues including Mousetrap, The Vogue, Hoosier Dome, White Rabbit Cabaret, Slippery Noodle, Duke’s Honky Tonky and Black Circle Brewing Company

Additionally, $7.5 million dollars was allocated to a hospitality relief fund that will be made available to restaurants, bars, nightclubs and entertainment venues in Marion County. Additional information, criteria and uses will be available in the coming weeks.

This is a huge win for venues in Indianapolis fighting for their businesses amidst mandated closures and increased restrictions on attendance.

The proposal noted that all remaining cares funds must be spent by December 31, 2020.
