This is our SOS – to save our stages, our venues, our restaurants, our artists, our city, our quality of life! The Hoosiers Rally For Live Events is organized by The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, Local 30 and its sister locals across Indiana. These organizations represent hundreds of individuals in Central Indiana who work in the entertainment industry, including but not limited to, broadcasting, live events, film, live theatre, and television.

When: Monday October 5 – 11:00 am

Where: Congregate at the North Steps of the Soldiers and Sailors Monument. Then walk along our “Case Push” to University Park at 301 N. Meridian.

What: Join representatives from local organizations and event companies as we rally to bring awareness to the needs of businesses, individuals, and our community.

As Congress approaches recess before the 2020 General Election, the Heroes 2 Act is winding its way through the Senate for consideration. A number of Senators are watching their margins narrow and are now becoming more amenable to additional aid. Thousands of Indiana residents continue to struggle due to the impact of the Coronavirus on the arts, entertainment, and live events industries. The extended assistance that can and should be granted will mean the difference for some between feeding their families through the Winter or becoming homeless.

According to Visit Indy, Indianapolis has lost more than 330 conventions tallying more than $600 million in lost business. They estimate that more than half of the 83,000 people who depend on tourism for a paycheck are currently still out of work with no definitive return. This is just one example from one segment of the live events industry. This clearly has a trickle-down effect on the venues, restaurants, bars, and clubs throughout the downtown and across the state.

Join us on Monday, October 5, as we rally on behalf of the thousands of unemployed workers, production companies, arts organizations, AV companies, the Convention Center, hotels, restaurants, and community organizations that support Downtown Indianapolis.

Help us send a clear message to the Senate: without federal assistance, these small businesses that drive and support events, conventions, and tourism, these small businesses will not survive.

The taxes generated by the tourism industry that keep Downtown Indianapolis safe and beautiful are dwindling.
