Music Times: Though other businesses have slowly opened up, the future remains uncertain for many live music venues. According to the National Independent Venue Association, about 9 out of 10 venues are due to close permanently if government funding doesn’t come soon.
Music venues aren’t only places of entertainment, as some of them are historical locations and have taken part in some of the music industry’s most monumental moments. Four venues in particular stick out, that are currently high risk for closure, and have been cornerstone venues for many in the music industry.
Troubadour, located in West California, is known as the birthing grounds for glam metal artists such as Guns N Roses and Wasp, while aiding the careers of bands such as Coldplay. First Avenue and 7th St. Entry located in Minneapolis, MN, is known for its appearance In Prince’s music video of one of his most popular songs “Purple Rain.”
Red Rocks Amphitheatre located in Morrison, CO is known for its uniquely beautiful open air events, and has hosted popular bands such as Sonny and Cher, John Denver, Carole King, and the Carpenters. Ryman Auditorium, located in Nashville, TN, was beforehand a physical place of worship before adopting its name as the “Mother Church of Country Music.” As expected with such a name, many of America's favorite country artists have performed there including Dolly Parton, Bill Monroe, Patsy Cline and more.
